Spiga

Just had one of the best meals we have experienced in Alicante at Spiga on c/Mayor

See http://www.spigarestaurante.es/

We have walked past the place quite a few times and always commented on the look of the place.

For a starter we shared the Elche Salad, a gorgeous salad of mixed leaves, tomatoes, dates and smoked bacon...........it would have done a a main course for me. Mrs H will be replicating it at home we enjoyed it that much!!

Mrs H chose the duck breast with pears in red wine sauce for her main...........cooked exactly as she liked it and so so tender. I had a pizza with the thinnest of bases, just as I like it.

The service was first rate and the food was all very very well presented.

Definately worth a visit, we will be returning

Regards all

John

It is indeed Rich, we had the Menu del Dia earlier in the week in Buen Comer...........from memory about 11.50 each and a very good for the price, the calamari for a starter was the best plate of calamari I have had, pretty amazing when its part of a menu del dia.

Spiga has been one of our Alicante favourites for a few years John!   And in all that time, we have never had a bad meal, they've recently undergone a refurb to make more space - always always busy!   :)

We were lucky to get a table yesterday, called in at just the right time, despite that the service could not be faulted.

Hi Victor, for that part of Alicante I park in the underground car park on the port, the one in front of the Hotel Melia

Had a meal at Spiga this evening, superb!!

The salads are amazing, tonight we had a chicken and orange salad with a honey and mustard dressing, my main was the most amazing piece of cod, topped with crumbed serrano ham and served with a prawn broth, followed by the lightest tiramasu I have ever experienced.........all washed down with a fantastic chardonay..........if you are in Alicante give the place a visit, its brill
