Arriving at midnight next week & planning on getting taxi & car hire next day. Are there plenty of taxis at that time or will I need to book one?

We’ve arrived before at that time and there were plenty of taxis.

No guarantee but I'd say you'll be OK. I was there at 2300 a couple of weeks ago and it was mad busy with two lines of taxis.
Just check the amount of flights coming in (flightrader24.com) around midnight, that'll be a good pointer. Cutting it fine though if you're delayed substantially.
23° today, surprising how cold it feels.

We normally arrive late evening into ALC and get a taxi, then take bus or lift back later in the week to get hire car, the seems no logic to the size of the queue of people waiting nor the taxis waiting for fares it really seems a lucky dip at the time you arrive.

I got in a 0130 last week there were loads of cabs there. My driver told me he always works until last plane arrives even if there is a delay
