I suppose ultimately, and bearing in mind the interesting information that John had, the answer is that the upgrade in house costs whatever five minutes work is worth, and if you're honest enough (or about to get caught out by the new meters) a phone call to Iberdrola and whatever extra it costs you per month. Right? Certainly anything over €50 for the actual work is untenable?

PS - Don't get me started about why on earth we are not all solar given we have 458+ days of sun a year :)

Had a look at our bill and we are on 3.3 kw so i guess that must be the lowest input level, we can work around it for the moment but if, hopefully, we are ever able to retire there as we would like, we would probably have that increased.  Thankyou for all of the input, so to speak. 🙂

Speak to Iberdrola either by phone or by popping into one of their shops is the best option.

Hi Spurs, I have also been asking. If you get a reply please let me know.

Hi AHV, This is exactly what I did last Friday and was told to use a registered electrician.

Registered electrician anyone.

Hi "up the iron" the electrician is Pablo Espinosa, S.L. electricidad he is in Torrevejecca, sorry dont have a phone number but Google it as we had to go to his business to pick up the Boletin. You can also go on the Iberdrola website and apply to have it done online but not sure how long this takes

Hi All, RESULT, Thanks Den and Rose, I had an email from FAB. and will be sorted when we are over in may. Many thanks for those who did reply.

For all those interested (nearly 700 views) if you have a RCB fitted by a man in the pub without getting a "Boletin" supplied, when the smart meters are fitted and you drag too much leccy the meter will trip and only your electric company can reset it.
