Hi Rich,
Yep.  Went with José Luis & his brother last year.  It's absolutely manic, & something I wouldn't have missed. It's got so popular internationally that they have to restrict numbers by selling tickets into the heart of the town where it takes place.
We stayed overnight in Valencia & took a coach out.  Several companies offer packages, & if you want you can include parties before or after.
Cautionary word.  It's not for young children (imho 16 minimum) as it gets so crowded the ensuing crush could easily lead to a Hillsborough style catastrophe.
Brilliant.  Must look at this years pics around the web.

We had it sussed.  A complete change of clothes on the coach, & throw away everything you wore during the event.
There are locals who offer showers in the streets outside their houses, & a stream where we sluiced off, just on the edge of town.
As stated, I wouldn't have missed it, but never again.
The other good thing is there is a code which people adhere to.  You have to squash the toms before you throw them, & you don't interfere with people's clothes to shove down backs etc.
& No!  I'm not going to San Fermin
