We've been visiting El Riu for 10 or more years now and never had anything other than a super meal
It's situated twixt Guadalest and Callosa, if you're in that area and are looking for a lunch stop give it a go, you won't be disappointed

Looks cracking, thanks for the recommendation John.

I don't think I ever had a bad meal in a place cooking on the open fire. "Dura" on the long Elche road (3/4 of the way up) is an absolute favourite of ours any time we require tender lamb chops, unctuous morcilla and crunchy chips. Their liver, bacon and garlic is also exquisite.
