Recommendations for a few day trips please
« on: April 02, 2015, 14:03. »
Hi all,

We are over next week without the kids so it will be a different visit.
Can I have some recommendations for a few day trips or even an overnight please?

We have a rental car and are looking for a few options for a good day trip,
Good sightseeing, countryside or city attractions, within 2 to 3 hour drive from Gran Alacant, local markets or attractions perhaps, bite to eat and head back to GA in the evening.

Is Benidorm Palace worth a visit for a show/overnight?
Does it need to be booked in advance?

thanks in advance,
Brandon

Benidorm Palace is definately worth going to. The international show and the meal are both excellent, it´s a great night out. Check out "Dave´s Coaches" they do a one night only trip, you can also stay overnight for one or two days and enjoy Benidorm for a bit longer. The best bit is that your transport is thrown in and you don´t need to worry about driving the car, they pick up and drop of in Gran Alacant. Their prices are very reasonable too.

Hi Brandon, have you tried Archena, the Balneos?
Our grandson and his friend, aged 16, loved it......the Mrs and I always enjoy it.
On the way back drop into Murcia for a walk and spot of retail therapy

Regards all

John

We've used Daves coaches. Benidorm Palace night and just  Benidorm.  Have booked my parents for the 3 night Cuenco trip in July. Very good value. They pick up by Lidls.

Thanks you for all the replies.
They are very useful both for this trip and for future trips.
I would love to do the Benidorm Palace overnight experience, but as we arrive late on Sunday and depart early the following Sunday so I will have to save that for another visit  :(

I havent heard of Cuenco, Archena, the Balneoso so will research and hopefully give them a go.
Any more recommendations are also welcome :-)  :)

Morning Brandon, if you're doing Guadalest tag it with a visit to the Fonts de Algar, as Guadalest its stunning. They are only 15/20 Kms apart

Between the Fonts and Guadalest you can call in here for a very good and inexpensive lunch......motorcycle museum for you to look round, organic fruit and veg/wine shop for the Mrs and children
The restaurant cook all their meat outside on a bbq

Cuenca is well worth a visit. I've been there but from Madrid direction. However David often driving the circular bus says about 2hours by road. I may go by high speed train and stay one night this year . The ancient town is built high up between two river gorges , with a fantastic footbridge and the hanging houses, casas colgadas, formerly nobles houses  clinging to the side of the gorge. Spectacular

Hi John, Annette and all,

Thank you for the recommendations. It is much appreciated.
It is really helpful as it gives us good choices for the week we are over (& for future visits )
We look forward to visiting a few places.

Fonts de Algar & Cuenca sounds lovely.
The motorcycle museum will be enjoyable ( for me anyway 😄)
it is great to have a few options.

I know it's in the evening but we took the Grandkids to Pola Park last night, and they had a great time on all the rides and it was only €43 for 4. Open from 1800 to 0000 and no long queue's to wind the kids and adults up, I can fully recommend the place, you can have a drink and something to eat there as well.

I would recommend pola park as well. If you have got children and you are going to be in GA for the summer holidays, it's worth buying a summer pass which entitles you to go to pola park as many times as you want during the summer .

Dave
