It might be a coincidence but it seems that whenever an establishment gets popular like the king of sardines,which was a bit simple,wooden shack rough round the edges but very popular, the local authority seems to redevelop the site. I recall pena grande in SP was closed down several years,you struggled to find a seat some days as it was heaving with local regulars, now replaced with a stylish hut thing that averages 6 customers whenever i walk past.

Just been along the beach road to Santa Pola and it seems they are now building a beach bar opposite the small white church.
