BIG AL'S
« on: February 14, 2019, 12:00. »
Work has begun on transforming the old site of Big Al's over the past week or so, apparently it is due to become a Mexican restaurant.

Be nice to see another new business in the Square!

I heard somewhere a while ago it was going to  become a Mexican restaurant, but I can't remember where.

Not according to the guy who owns Azafran on Sunday it wont be. Lack of detail at the moment nothing new there really i suppose. Work is continuing but from the new frontage it could be a office type business as well. Personally i think the square has enough eateries already, any more just puts a strain on the others.Incidetally went for a carvery at the Belfry on sunday, all shut up with a note that looked like written by a child saying sorry closed, the claim of best carvery is now eearing a bit thin as the place is rarely open.

Good grief. I went to the carvery a few times "back in the day". It was very good. The staff especially were exceptional. The roast potatoes were a bit dodgy, and we all had fun with that, but how you take that thriving business and flush it down the toilet is incredible really. Shame. It was a real addition to the area when a Sunday roast was "required".

Why the continuing pops against the Belfry wilson?
Incidentally did their note have as many spelling mistakes as your post

Sorry John here was me thinking this was a forum where people shared opinions. It was closed on Sunday and there was a scribbled note on the door which are both facts or are we going to pretend something different to save ruffling feathers.

It’s your opinion and you are entitled to it, I just wonder why you keep on wanting to have a pop at them.....

Sounds like a perfect fusion! I'll be first in the queue for a steak bolognese with nachos!

This 'multi cuisine' approach seems to be the norm now - but it has worked well for the likes of Hemingways, Get Fresh etc, so...... :)

Yep, a hundred things defrosted. A lot of these places (can't speak of the one's mentioned, as I couldn't be sure) simply order everything from the King's Foods frozen van and just microwave it to order. I've posted this link before http://www.kings-food.com/products.asp but it's always fascinating reading. It forms the basis of my game "spot the frozen meal" when dining out GA style. Premade jacket potatoes, you can't beat them. Here's another "menu" for you: https://bidfood.es/catalogue/flipbook-2017/
