First Time Visitor - questions
« on: June 29, 2017, 17:22. »
We are staying in Gran Alacant area - Calle Luxemburgo road / street during August.

I have been trying to find more information on various things to plan our trip - but other forums seem to be dead and trip advisor forum does not have many posts.

Grateful if anyone can answer the following:

1. Near the Commericial Center / Mercandona - are we able to take a bus down to the Carabasi beach. I understand there is a road train, but this could be 30 - 40 minutes to get there.

2. Is there any companies at Commercial Center that arrange day trips ? and pick up is local without having to get to Alacante first thing in the morning ?

3. How easy is it to get a taxi (or even two taxi's) from the Commercial Center area ... if we wanted to goto the beach or other areas.

4. Except for the Mercandona area, where are the nearest shops - food ... but also souvenirs.

5. Is there an online bus time table?

6. Is there an online time table for the road train ?

Many thanks !!

There is a circular bus goes around GranAlacant every 20 minutes siesta break then till 8.00pm.There is Zafira tours in the commercial centre for trips.or you can look on line at David's coach trips,or Rosa tours both are good companies and do lots of different trips..Taxis are few you can ring for them sometime there is a couple outside Lidl supermarket. There are shops all over GranAlacant Quicksave. Sells English food and newspapers and have a gift shop. The bus company is Baillie they have a web site for bus timetable.wehave a monthly magazine call Gran Alacant Advertiser you can read it on line tells you a lot of information.

The bus from Santa Pola to Alicante also passes the commercial centre and goes along the road by Carabassi beach. See the timetable in the magazine. Gives you more options on times. Santa Pola 10 minutes Alicante 35 , both good for plenty of shops of all sorts and both have beaches.

Website for the train is http://www.trengranalacant.com/tren_turistico_gran_alacant_english.html#horario

You buy tickets on it on the day, valid for a hop on/hop off round trip. See the GA Advertiser for the location of the stops.

There is a supermarket closer to you than Mercadona located on the Plaza Mayor - also known as Masa Square - and here you can also find a bank (Deutsche) cash machine and a selection of bars/restaurants, again look at the advertiser for details.

The Baile bus website is http://www.autocaresbaile.es/en/routes/summer-timetables/alicante-santa-pola-route

The reason why 30-40 mins travel time to the beach is quoted is because both the bus and train circulate in one direction only - and from your point of view, where you are staying, it's the wrong way. If you study the map in the GA Advertiser you will see what I mean.
