I have just been told that the old Dunbars which has been closed for quite a few years is going to re-open on 1st April as a breakfast bar and grill. There is also an advert about it in the latest GA Advertiser.

Maybe not - it is in the advertiser, top of page 11.

Of course, could just be Barry having a laugh  :)

Good luck to them I will give it a try again

It is very true.
Mandy the owner is coming out to start it up again
An unfortunate start up date, but at least it got them some publicity

Thanks Barry,

I remember the original owners. We moved over here in 2005 and had our first Christmas Day meal in Dunbars. It would be nice to see the place open again.

I remember it too, but from 2004, had 2 meals there, not good, never went back, but that was then and I will give it a go when we are out at the end of April, hopefully it will do well.

I ate in there some ten years ago. It was the same frozen ribs that Clive in the White Rose next door used to heat up, but with €8.00 worth of dried parsley round the edge of the plate! haha. It was truly awful. At least Clive's came with some humorous Karaoke.

Of course I'm anxious to see what can be made of the place now. But given the obvious rent on such a large place I'd imagine, €67.00 pizza was the order of the day! :)

We, I cant use the word dined, sat in there once and they presented us with one of the worst meals we have ever experienced, it wasn't even defrosted never mind cooked.
The staff didn't give a hoots when we complained
If it's the same owner as before reopening the place we will give it a very wide berth

Regards all

John

Nice to know we were not the only ones ☺

Barry mentions Mandy the owner, my memory is it was being run by a couple of guys back then but I may be wrong. Still, 10 years is a long time so maybe it will be better this time.

Wow it's been a long time since that was open, lovely looking place with an upstairs room too but very disappointing food, and with more competition now they will have to up their game but good luck to anyone with the bottle to run businesses there and with the new place at the previous white rose/destinations bar opening soon it should be an interesting visit for us in April. Looking forward to seeing the new as well as the established places.
