See http://www.teleelx.es/n172532-Princesol-renuncia-a-rehabilitar-el-Hotel-de-Arenales-y-pedira-indeminaciones.html

Run through an on line translator;

Princesol resigns to rehabilitate the Hotel of Arenales and will ask for indeminations
The impediments put by the City and Coasts has caused that the company Princesol has resigned the project that had to be inaugurated this summer and has asked to the rescue of the concession.

There will be no hotel in Arenales del Sol, so the old building will continue to be ruined. The company Princesol has asked the central administration to rescue the concession and then claim compensation for damages.

The lawyer of the company has confirmed that the patience has been exhausted by the impediments and the bureaucratic obstacles that Costas and the own City council of Elche has put them. That is why, 15 days ago, they have asked the administration to redeem the concession and, afterwards, they will claim compensation for damages.

In the event that Costas does not respond to this petition they have announced that they will return to the courts to demand money for the expropriation of more than 6,000 square meters of the hotel since they do not agree with the concession granted for 80 years to use a property that They prevent them from rehabilitating.

An ups and downs of a soap opera

At the end of 2015 began the rehabilitation works of Hotel de Arenales, after more than 15 years of litigation with the central administration to be able to act in a building affected by the demarcation of Costas and after more than 30 years of abandonment of a ruined building . Those responsible for the company Princesol then explained that the investment was to exceed 8 million, now say that more than 15 million, to build a four-star hotel on the beach front.

The execution period was to be 18 months, so it was scheduled to open in the summer of this year. But, the stoppage of the works last June for urbanistic infraction, which the company denies, has prevented its execution.

Alonso regrets losing investment

Popular spokeswoman, Mercedes Alonso, on the TN program | Interview talked about this issue and blamed the government team for having provoked this situation. Alonso has lamented that the tripartite has not been able to unblock this action because it would be an important attraction for tourism and revitalize the hamlet by suppressing a ruined building.

The spokeswoman blamed the tripartite for not showing any interest in recovering the rehabilitation works as it believes that its government partner Compromis on more than one occasion claimed to be against building a hotel on the beach front.

Looks like the lawyers will make a few quid out of it.

I always thought it was a non starter.

Regards all

Shame, but I think the land wasn't wide enough to make it viable.
