Following a few posts on the forum a few months ago we visited Terry Venables Hotel La Escondida this afternoon for lunch.
What a gorgeous hotel in amazing surroundings.
I asked for a table on the terrace and thats what they gave me, stunning views, the service was exemplary.
The food........not far off fine dining, one of the best, if not the best meal I have ever had in Spain, top notch in every way.
It will now be a regular for us and has taken the position as our favourite restaurant.
Thanks Rich and Sue for mentioning it

John

Google maps has it approx. 80 km and an hour's drive away.

Was it busy, John? Did you get a sense of many people staying there? - looks to be an ideal spot for a weekend getaway and no more expensive that a half decent hotel in Madrid!

Hi Michael, it took us about 55 minutes sticking to the speed limits.
It was very quiet
C. 12 other non residents having lunch and around 8 residents having a lighter lunch, quite a few cars in the car park though.....possibly staff.
We will definitely be having an "over nighter" when next out to sample the dinner menu

Hi Sian, I'd have enjoyed an hour with my camera looking around the local villages that we passed close by...........as for whats there, not a lot I would guess.
You arn't that far from the Guadalest and Les Fonts de L'Algar so dependent on where you have visited before there's quite a bit to see.
Enjoy

Sian, the nearest major town is Alcoy, somewhere I have intended to visit for some time but not managed it yet

Many thanks. For the replys  everyone.  I have been wanting to go to Guadalest for a while now.  We have been to Les Fonts de L'Algar, but in the hight of season, so guessing it should be better without so many people around.

Shall look at the link to Alcoy

Roll on January . 😀

I tried to book a room at Eacondida for a couple of nights this month, unfortunately they close for three weeks as of next Monday for staff holidays.
I received a message from them last night that they have an offer on for this week of buy one menu del dia at standard price and get one at half price

We have just come back from a two nights stay. What an amazing place. The food the staff the accommodation couldn't have asked for more.

Terry Venables came to the hotel In the evening and spoke to all the guests.  I even had him laughing when he asked me my views on football. I actually dislike the sport.

Hoping to go back in the summer.
