I see this on the markets and pinch my nose as I walk past the stall...........what do you do with it? Who's tried it?

Bonito is like a large mackerel John

Soak it in water for 24 hrs change water a couple of times and cook however you like after ,with garlic and onions perhaps

It's fine. You may have had it already in salads and not especially realised. It's just like very strong fish, not rancid or "weird" in any way. I suppose like blue cheese flavour is forcheese, this dried fishes flavour is to fish! you soak it in flakes or whatever and put it in salads with tomatoes and olive oil. The oil tastes lovely.

Even stronger are the "block" of dried fish roe they sell. That's like eating all the fish you've ever eaten in your life in one mouthful.

Well we soaked it in oil and garlic then tried it and decided there was only one thing for it, bin it !
