Post by: steve watson on August 17, 2020, 19:31.
Just got email from easyJet my return flight has been cancelled on 6 September for no apparent reason!
Has this happened to anyone else ?
I’ve not even got there yet ! Flying out tomorrow.

If your return flight is to Southend then there are no more flights in or out from 1st Sept. They are finished at southend.

Sad day for all Easyjet staff. Love Southend Airport so easy for us just 10 mins from home.

We love Southend. Same - 25 mins away. We use Ryanair now although Easyjet are our preferred airline but I have to say that Ryanair have not cancelled any of our flights so far and I do like their early morning take off.  We are due to fly on Friday. Been praying for quarantine to be called off or on this occasion Ryanair cancelling our flight.  Neither look likely 🙄

Puddy - woo i am in orsett .what would your next choice of airport be ?? I've used Luton before  for other destinations, which i think is better than Gatwick  !!

Newcastle Airport too, gutted we've only ever used easyjet and they've been excellent. I think for alicante/newcastle we are left with a choice of ryanair or ryanair, and the only time i ever used them was on a holiday with the girls when they cancelled our return flight the night before it left on 17 dec and told us there were no alternatives till boxing day, so im not encouraged by that!

We’ve had 2 cancelled for late September, unless quarantine rules change doubt we will come as 14 days isolation would drive me crazy .
Anyone think UK will change anytime soon?

There is always Jet2, who fly out of Stansted, and many other regional airports.  When we had our villa we used them in preference to Ryan Air.  Found them to be much more comfortable and friendly than Ryan Air!

Hi, We're in Hornchurch.  I don't like Gatwick at all - too big.  We have used Luton but parking is a bit of a nightmare so I would use Stansted.  I am lucky that my friend lives in Takeley which is max 10 mins away and lets me park on her drive but even that would not tempt me from Southend using Ryanair.  It looks like I will be changing my flight this Friday to a date in October.  Very disappointing.  Had a great deal on car hire as well.  £50 for 2 weeks with express check in with Record.  I am truly gutted  :'(

Can I ask those traveling to Spain what do you do for insurance if FCO advice is only essential travel for Spain and how do you cope with 14 days quarantine on return?
As both above issues are putting me off traveling to Spain at present plus the constant flight changes

I cant vouch for them, I have heard a lot people speaking about this company giving full insurance if travelling against FCO policy.

14 days quarantine, no problem, it's been great not seeing some folk 5 months, all the supermarkets deliver, it's easier than going to Spain!!

Regards all

Thanks John, it’s more the lack of outdoor exercise including golf I would miss so will have to consider pros& cons. The wearing of masks whilst walking would also be a pain.
May hold on until UK changes advice to travel

I have a 3rd Sept flight that is only for 4 days and Ryanair are asking me for £180 to move it to December (plus £50 as the midweek December return flights are now more expensive than the Sept one was)  - so I will reluctantly be walking away from this one.

and he will have £320 in his bank account for not flying me and Mrs BL to ALC.

I understand he is reconciling his flights at the moment probably to try and fill less flights per week whilst keeping the routes open - but I have not had the option to cancel yet as it looks like he's flying on 3rd

Just did a quick quote for myself for a four week stay on Battleface £241 for one trip, without my husband added or any medical conditions. Had the same quote for us both elsewhere for a years cover with medical conditions. Think your paying a much higher premium for the cover against the government advice To travel.

I fly Ryanair 99% of the time and luckily they haven't cancelled our August/ September flights.
I'm in day 7 of quarantine at the moment and it's a bit of a pain but I knew what the rules were when I went to Spain and decided 16 days holiday in Spain outweighed the pain of the 14 day quarantine on return

Hello Jenkin,  i hope Jet 2 will be an option but as they pulled out of flights very quickly and haven't been flying from Newcaste this summer because of uk returning quarantine rules while easyjet continued to fly, we are just waiting to see if they will cope and, if and when the quarantine rules relax, what flights will be available, if any.

Can't see the quarantine rules being relaxed anytime soon, UK rate is 20 per 100,000 whilst Spain is something like 130 per 100k

Interesting the rate in Dorset where I live is 3 in 100,000. Predominately a Caucasian population and the spikes appear to be in areas that suffer more poverty and have a more diverse population. I suppose the same applies in Spain with the cities being hardest hit.

Does anyone know what happens if you come to GA for one week, fly home for one week then come back out to GA, how does the quarantining work, I heard some on the plane saying this !!!!

You quarantine for the week you're in the UK. On my flight a bloke was only here for two days before going back to Spain. The locator form asks how long you're going to be at the address you give.
