Title: Spanish State Pension
Post by: kevinb on November 09, 2017, 08:12.
Have recently read that the Spanish State Pension is going bust, apparently when the Spanish economy collapsed ten years ago the contributions paid collapsed as well hence the current problem.

Have to put all the doom & gloom journalism into context, in any country.  True the economies of several EU states are in a bad way, but by & large, everyone soldiers on.  Spain is not as badly off as some, & this post is purely a "don't get depressed" message & most definitely NOT a re-openning of a brexit debate!!!!!!!

Aren’t most pension schemes always on the point of going bust , a question that I’ve never known the answer to is if you are a resident but from the uk do you get the Spanish pension or the uk one and is there much between them money wise ?

I think you have to pay into the Spanish state pension to receive a pension Spurs, from what my Spanish neighbours tell me, without them wanting to give too much away, it’s a bit more generous than our state pension, mindst you after starting to receive my state pension last month I’m not complaining!!

Regards all

Puts our pension in the shade at 81% of income. Although some say they're running out of cash.
