After many years of standing empty, these apartments are currently undergoing painting re-furb and are now being marketed in UK..

Price seems cheap £83000 you’d get that for £80000 looks like it needs some finishing off though
-
The prices quoted probably don't include notary and lawyers fees etc. and of course the 10% IVA.
-
"Playas de Gran Alacant " and "minimal distance to the sea" are two good examples of Estate Agent double speak or poets licence.
I notice that "minimal distance to the noisy N332" is missing!

Swimming pool excepted it’s got all the glamour of some sort of institutional accommodation, looks dreadful!!
I reckon they’ll take some selling

We looked around these several years ago and were quite underwhelmed, they looked dated back then but with architectural styles moving on, they will be hard to shift. The big downside is there are so many that the local resale markett will be depressed for several years whilst theyre being offloaded.
-
On a positive note, it's an eyesore of a building site which hopefully will improve with occupancy, & will benefit the local economy
-
They're very handy for the new golf course

Whilst not always trying to be pessimistic, im struggling to see any positive points. They will favour the holiday home short rental market so will spend a lot of the year empty, the occupants will add to the seasonal congestion on the roads and beaches, shops etc. Any money generated IVA goes to central goverment, yearly income ie suma will go straight into the coffers of santa pola council with little being reinvested back into GA. So if anyone can give a factual positive benefit that will enhance GA then fire away.

Increased trade for local businesses?

Hi both
Yes, but that is a very old Google shot!
I agree they are not the most attractive looking, but it is good to see them finally being worked on rather than the eyesore they have been for the past few years 8)
-
I agree with Bert and its only a short walk to the Masa square.

Increased trade for local businesses?
Bert
Its a good point Bert, but the reality is that GA has an oversupply of local businesses already, with many competing to the bottom and subsequent closures. So where does it all end, more developments equals more new businesses all scrabbling around trying to make a living equals more closures, more grand openings, more under new management. Personally i think GA is way to big already and is fast becoming another urban sprawl, the best outcome would be to bulldoze these apartments and return the land to nature or agriculture.
-
As they are a,ready built seems sensible to finish them and get what they can for them (although looking at the insides I reckon they will get £80000 including tax etc )
More people means more money into local restaurants bars shops and other infrastructure so that can only be a good thing as hopefully a few more will survive
I don’t think anyone can complain about the size of GA we all knew what the long term development plan was when we bought we were shown it when we bought over 17 years ago and if anything it’s not as far advanced as it should be by now
-
Spurs i do agree the plan all those years ago included many areas still not built on. Maybe i just envisioned an area of pretty urbanisations,'not the sprawl of bits of this and that.
-
If memory serves I think the original proposal was for the development to be an Aparthotel - I wonder which option would be best for bringing income into GA? An aparthotel would need employees but the guests may only be passing through compared to permanent owners who may or may not visit with any frequency.
Regarding urban sprawl GA is nothing compared with Los Arenales - the view coming along the coast road or down cardiac hill is an eyesore of what seems to be completely uncoordinated and unsympathetic developments the like of which I thought passed away 10 -15 years ago.

-
Must be the day for it agreeing again Dave, whilst i love Arenales the architecture leaves a lot to be desired a myriad of designers dreams plonked all over the place with little or no theme to compliment existing developments. Referring back to the GA apartments i think they are best described as a boil on the rear end.Maybe i need to move into the campo.
-
I think they will struggle to sell them at that price where they are, potential buyers will turn up and see that the location is pants.
-
As a new build lock up and leave, I don't think they're too bad..........and I think the price would be negotiable.
I've certainly seen a lot worse....for a lot more ££££.Worth keeping an eye on!
Cheers
Davy !!!
-
I’m with you Davy they look value at about £75-80 k hang on to it for a few years then sell on
-
Agreed. A brand new property within easy walking distance of Masa square and the commercial centre.
Add in the fact that it is close to quite a few upmarket new and new-ish properties.
They are also in a layout style that is more common up and down the coast.....if 'A place in the sun' is to be believed.

Seem to be working hard on the aesthetics, mature palm trees were being planted yesterday.

'She's no better than she ought to be'
-
Driving down the 332 yesterday I looked across at them.
Got to say they look a lot better than the estate agents photograph depicts them, they are giving the exteriors a lick of paint and doing some landscaping
Wouldn’t be my cup of tea, but it’ll suite plenty and end up being their much loved bolt hole in the sun

I had a walk around there the other day and it has still got a lot of work to be done, with no sign of a Pool and it's very close to the road.
-
Went past today and the pool area is being landscaped and lots of work going on.
Also there is another development being marketed - Residential Gran Alicante - www.granalicante.com
Good news that the economy is looking up again :)
-
Blimey they look cheap and cheerful anyone know where they are ?
-
Parallel with N332 just before GA turn coming from Alicante.
