If we are coming to the house in Spain or going home and a flight gets cancelled its an inconvenience.........but if we had booked a holiday elsewhere and booked hotels and hired cars I would be fuming.
I hope folk take them to the cleaners with their compensation claims

Flying to and from Spain when retired isn't a problem because you just change your flights and get on with it. However if it's your annual two week holiday as you say it's a different matter.
But to put things into perspective I've flown here and back over a hundred times and had two flights cancelled - one due to the Iceland volcano and the other due to Spanish Air Traffic Control going on strike when I was at the departure gate. Not a bad record. It's only a major problem when it's tied in with other arrangements.
