Why are you selling up after many years enjoying GA?
-
Each year we are using the house less and less as we are enjoying "rediscovering" holidays elsewhere.
This year we have holidays planned to the Baltic countries, Portugul, Northern Spain and The Canaries.
There is no way we'd be here now if we weren't for putting the house on the market, the weather is just not good enough.
It costs c.£2k a year to run and maintain the house, let's say I get a pessimistic £5k a year return on investing the proceeds of the sale that means the 8 weeks we like to spend here in May and September/October are costing me close on a £1,000 a week......we can rent some amazing places for a lot less than that!!
We arnt desperate to sell, the agent knows not to phone us with "chancers speculative" offers

Much the same reasons that we have for selling as well although, whilst not a duplex or north facing, is almost half the price of John's place. http://www.novadesta.com/en/blog/apartment-for-sale-gran-alacant-ref397 if there are any bargain hunters out there. Being an earlier phase than John, we have owned for a bit longer as well.

Tony, mines south facing, thank The Lord

Oh no not the north versus south debate again, best of luck to both of you though in my limited experience of selling property in GA over recent years most buyers seem to be chancers after a bargain of which sadly there seems no end of people desperate to sell thus keeping prices low. I cant see things improving greatly for years as the property market has been like this for at least 8 years despite what estate agents say.

East facing is by far the best direction out here.

We all have our views, no pun intended
The estate agents have always told me that south facing is high on the list of requirements from Northern Europeans.....including me!!

I don't think that has changed in all the years that GA has been developed. When I bought my place, it was one of two that were left on Phase 3, both of which were north-facing.
