This was on Farcebook earlier and what a storm of outrage it produced, some were implying that you were only allowed to bring a foreign plated car into Spain for 30 days, when in fact it relates to the owners deciding to be permanent residents in Spain who only have 30 days, which isn't long when you're dealing with Spanish Red tape.very expensive as well.

It took me about 7 days from start to finish to get the Mrs uk registered car onto Spanish plates.
Those that think 30 days isn't long enough probably also think 6 months isn't long enough to do it.
The law is the law

What about those with Scottish plates? Were they getting a tug as well?

You're fine, it's only if you want to be or are a permanent resident out in Spain that you have 30 days to re register your vehicle.
There was a SUN/DM type headline on farce book that had everyone chucking their teddies out of the Pram.
I believe you have 180 days if just a tourist

As a matter of interest has anybody ever taken a Spanish car to Uk and tried to replate it as a Uk car
I assume at the very least the headlamps would  need changing

We drive down regularly from Manchester and as a non resident you can keep your car in Spain for 180 days in any twelve month period providing it is legal in its country of registration and you have adequate insurance.

If you are driving through France and take the westerly route into northern Spain we can recommend a stop over at the Valdorba hotel just off the motorway south of Pamplona.

See links below.
