Strikes planned at 25 Spanish airports
Holidaymakers to Spain face more disruption as staff at 25 airports vote for strike action until the end of this year.
Workers, protesting against conditions and low pay, are planning 24-hour stoppages on 25 days between September and December.
Airports due to be affected include include Palma, Alicante, Madrid, Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Barcelona.
Car park staff, bag handlers, security, IT, retail and catering staff have all voted to join the industrial action, which is scheduled for five days in September, seven in October, two in November and 11 in December.
The December dates include five consecutive days from December 26-30, designed to cause maximum disruption over Christmas and New Year.
The September dates are 15, 17, 22, 24, and 29.
Spain’s three main workers unions – USO, CCOO and UGT – are in dispute with airport operator AENA.
The vote comes as strikes continue at Barcelona’s El Prat airport, causing long queues at security controls. Police had to be drafted in to deal with the chaos.

Hi John
Thank you for the info hopefully we will be ok on the homeward flight in September
unless there is a knock on affect
Never ceases to amaze me the people that strike are so dissatisfied
with there pay and working conditions why  don`t find another job instead of disrupting peoples lives

I wonder if yesterday's planned meeting took place.

I think the planned action has been suspended whilst talks continue Michael.
Just the French ATC to contend with now.......and the exodus of pilots from Ryanair

Just read;

THE travel disruption that has hit Spain recently shows no sign of letting up anytime soon as French trade unions have called more strikes on 18, 21, 23 and 25 September to protest against new labour reforms.

Disruption to air, sea, and ground transportation are to be expected - with a knock-on effect in Spain.

The last one-day strike by French air traffic controllers, when they joined a general strike, led to the cancellation of more than 200 flights.

The UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office has warned, “On 21 and 23 September 2017, French unions have called for protests and strike action across France. This could cause disruption and delays to transport services including rail networks and some maritime ports. You should allow extra time for your journey and check your chosen operator’s website before you set off.”

The full schedule of planned industrial action in France is as follows:

18 September
Unions representing road and maritime transportation employees have called upon their workers to strike.

21 September
One of France’s main labour unions, the General Confederation of Labour (CGT), has announced a second nationwide strike set to affect transportation services, public institutions, and the health and education sectors.

23 September
Former presidential candidate and current leader of the political party La France Insoumise has called for mass street protests throughout the country. A demonstration is scheduled at 14:00 (local time) at the Place de la Bastille in Paris

25 September
Several unions have called on truck drivers to launch an indefinite strike and to erect roadblocks near oil facilities, which could affect fuel supplies at service stations.

Aviation industry body Airlines for Europe (A4E)  has had enough and called on the French government and European Commission to step in.

Regards all

John

PS we are flying out on the 25th with Ryanair.......

Good luck with that John, if Ryanair don't trash your flight first, the French will step up and do it for them!
