We replaced our fridge freezer last year had old on thirteen years but over that period while we both had jobs it probably only had a total of eighteen months use. It seems that only running an FF occasionally doesn't do them any good. Another situation that wrecks them is if they are relocated to gallerias that have been roofed facing a southern aspect, temperature soars in summer and the heat exchanger on the back of the FF cant dissipate the heat removed from the FF interior so the compressor runs itself continuously, causing eventual failure.
